सिन्धी देवनागिरी
अरम हडि॒ न ओढियां। पटोला पट चीर।
बां॒धुणाई ब॒नि डि॒यां। अर्ग़च एं अबीर।
मारूअ सें माणियां। खथी जिहड़ी खीर।
अंदरि उञ उकीर। मूं खे पिरींअ पंवहार जी॥

I would never wear the costly woollen or silken clothes. I hate the ‘bafta’ and coloured cloth bodices. Would that I were to enjoy with my beloved, the blankets, white like milk! In fact I am absorbed by the craving to meet my beloved herdman (the Prophet).

What pleasure is there for a solitary visitor to a garden, whether a rose smiles or somebody weeps like dew. But if you are there, one would return often to it. In case you are not there, of what avail are the breeze, cloud, verdure, rose and the expensive meadow?
Dresses of brocade and silk I will not wear,
For costly fine stuffs and blue silk clothes I do not care,
With Maroo may I enjoy milk-white blankets!
I long for my love who dwells in deserts.
Costly woolen clothes and brocade I will never wear,
Stole made of costly silk drenched with amber I hate,
Would that I and my beloved Maroo jointly use the milky white blankets,
I thirst for my beloved herdsman.
اونی پشمی ریشمی پٹ دے کپڑے رنگ نا لاواں
زری بافتا بھوچھن شاہی نظر کھلے نا لیاواں
ہتھ کھڈی دی کمبلی اوڈھاں مارو سنگ ہنڈاواں
سک مارو دی اندر میرے ڈاڈھی کچھاں پاوے
میں نہ پہنوں گی ریشمی ملبوس
چاہے جس رنگ کا بھی ہو کوئی
میرے پیارے وطن کا تحفہ ہے
صاف و شفاف اون کی لوئی
جان سے بھی عزیز ہے مجھ کو
اپنے پہنوار کی رضا جوئی
عمر کبھی نہ پہنوں گی میں ریشم کا یہ لباس،
ریشم اور زرتار کی تاریں، کیسے آئیں راس،
اُجلی لوئی اوڑھ کے جاؤں، میں مارو کے پاس،
من میں ملن کی پیاس، پل پل ہے پریتم کی۔
