सिन्धी देवनागिरी
अखियुनि खे आऊं। जां के झलूं पायां।
लोकु लताड़े निन्ड में। वञी साजनु सूठाऊं।
मूंखे मारियाऊं। पाण पर्ची आयूं॥

Howsoever much I restrain my eyes, but they break loose; and while the people are generally asleep (with closed eyes), they look for and succeed in beholding the Beloved. They become friendly with those of the Beloved, but I suffer in the bargain.
Eyes rebuke and annoy eyes,
Since they learnt to long, in quarrelling with one another vie,
Joy, anger and reconciliation they reveal.
Many obstacles I place in the path of eyes,
Crossing over the sleeping world, they Beloved find,
They gratify themselves, leaving me dissatisfied.
As much as I restrain my eyes,
They trampled people who were asleep and saw the beloved,
They practically killed me and reconciled with the beloved.
مهما أمنع العيون فى المنام تتجول الكون وعثرت على الحبيب .
قتلتني العيون فى الفراق والهجران ولاكن فرحت ورضيت بوصال الحبيب.
الشاعر يقول: إلتقت العيون فى النوم مع الحبيب وارتاجت ولاكن فؤادي يحترق فى جوى الهوي.
بکوشیدم کہ باز آرم زجانان دیدھایم را
باو غیر از رھنمایءِ من چرا وابستہ گردیدند
مگر ھنگام خوابیدن بیا سوند با وصلش
مرا در مرگ آوردہ بہ وی پیوستہ گردیدند
لاکھ روکا مگر ان آنکھوں نے
میرے پیارے تجھی سے پیار کیا
اپنے راز و نیاز کی خاطر
ہائے بے موت مجھ کو مار دیا
جوں جوں روکیں نینن کو، پیا ملن کو جائیں،
سپنوں میں جگ روند کر، ساجن سے مل آئیں،
پریتم سے من جائیں، مجھ کو روتا چھوڑ کر۔
