Oh, common crane! Stay silent and refrain from warbling, as it only reopens the wounds of the heart** How can those who suffer from the pain of separation from their beloved ones find solace in their homes for long? (*Common cranes: A kind of migratory birds)

  • (old) O crane! Keep silent. Do not warble and thereby refresh the heart’s wounds. How long can they remain at home, who smart under the wounds caused by separation from their dear ones?
Note: The last portion is a sort of soliloquy on the part of the poet.

Oh my crane! do not warble, revive
    not my heart's wounds,
How long can separated once remain in their rooms?

Cry not crane, be quite don't reopen heart's wounds,
How would they stay home who are wounded be separation?
