What you believed to be a necklace of precious gems turned out to be a garland of sorrows** King "Chanesar" turned His thoughts away from you and turned His attention towards a humble maid servant** May the Lord withhold His displeasure from any soul, that His divine wrath may not befall them**
TRANSLITERATION
सिन्धी देवनागिरी

जो तो भांयो हारु। सो सोरनि संघिरो।
चनेसरु चितु खणी। थिओ पिरिहयति जो पारु।
अण वणति जो आचारु। शल कांधु कंहिं सें न करे।

ROMAN SINDHI

Jo toh bhaeiyo haar, so'h sooran sandho sanghro,
Chanesar chitt khaneiy, thow poreha't jo paar'r,
An'n wantt jo aachaa'r, shall'a kandh kehan seein naa karey.

  • (To Leela) "What you took as a necklace (of gems) proved to be a band of sorrows. Lord çhanesar put you off His mind and took to the maid servant (Kunroo). Would that the Lord may not display His displeasure against any person!"
    Note: The verses No. 8 and 9 contain the poet’s reproach to Leela.

    What you considered necklace was a string of sorrow,
    Chanesar withdrawing his love from you bestowed it on your maid,
    would that no spouse spurns this, his mate!

    What you look for necklace is in fact the neckband of sorrows,
    Chaneser forsook you and become consort of the mind,
    May not the lord be displeased with any one.


    حسبت العقد يصلح لك ولاكن هذا العقد صار سبب المصائب والشدائدوالمتاعب لك لقد تركت جنيسر واخترت واحسرتاه لايزعل زوج مع حبيبته!


    ہار دکھاں دا پھندا بنیا جس نے سی بھرمایا
    تینوں چھڈ گولی اپنائی نال کنور دل لایا
    کنت کسے داناری کولوں شالا رس نا جاوے


    یہ ہے گلے کا طوق، جس کو سمجھی ہار،
    تجھ کو چھوڑ کے بنا چنیسر، کونرو کا ہے یار،
    دل سے دے نہ اُتار، کسی کو اس کا ساجن۔
