Upon our first encounter, I beheld the ascetics with open eyes, seeking comprehension of their ways** Never do they abide by the ordinary; perpetually engulfed, nay, dissolved in love's embrace** "Sayed" says: "These ascetics dwell in perpetual longing, entwined in the throes of love** Only compelled by urgency do they stir, yet in secrecy, concealed from the world's gaze**"

  • On the first day (of my association) I studied with open eyes the ascetics to understand them. They are never normal. All the time they are immersed, nay, neutralized in love. Sayed says: “These ascetics are constantly in suffering (due to love). It is only when they are forced by a necessity that they move out and then too, they do it secretly and unobtrusively.”

On the first day I discerned yogis' living ways,
Never are they in normal health, in sorrow they spend their days,
Sayed says they always suffer pain,
For some secret reason they hide from men,
Save dire necessity yogis live from world.
