آسِرو آھي، موٽِي اِيندا، مُون نَہ ڇَڏِيندا پاڻَ پَسَندا،
پَٿَرِ وارَ پِرِينءَ لَيءِ، ويھُ تُون وِڇائي،
ڏُکَ لاھِيندا ڏِيلَ مان، ڳُجهو ڳالَهائي،
ڪالَهہ سَناسِي سِڱِيُون، وِئَڙا وَڄائي،
اِيندا آديسِي وَرِي، دُونھِيُون ڌَڳائي،
مُون کي نِيندا پاڻَ سين، ھِيءُ سَڱُ ساڱاھي،
اَدِيُون عَبدِالْلَطِيفُ چئَي، اُو اِھَڙو ئِي آھي.

I hold hope that the ascetics shall return and not abandon me, driven by their inherent benevolence** They will come back and rekindle their fires** In the meantime, I shall lay my hair upon the quilt for the Beloved** He shall engage in intimate conversation with me, alleviating all my sufferings** He will then take me along with him, recognizing our profound bond** "Abdul Latif" says: "O sisters! My Beloved is as gracious as I envision Him**"

آَسَرُوْ آَهٖيْ مُوْٽِيْ اِيْدَا مُنْ نَڇَڎِيْدَا پَانُ پَسَندَّا﮶
پَٿَرِ وَارَا پِرْيَنِ لَئِى وِہُ تُنْ وِڇَائٖيْ﮶
ڎُکَہ لَاهِيْدَا ڎِيْلَمَا کُجُوْ کَالَائِيْ﮶
ڪَالَ سَنَاسِيْ وِئَـرَا وَڃَائٖيْ﮶
اِيْدَا آَدٖيْسِيْ وَرِيْ دُوْهِيٌ ڌَکَائِيْ﮶
مُنْکٖيْ نِيْدَا پَانَس﮼ هِيُ سَنکُّہ سَاکَاهٖيْ﮶

TRANSLITERATION
सिन्धी देवनागिरी

आसरो आहे। मोटी ईंदा। मूं न छडीं॒दा पाण पसंदा।
पथरि वार पिरींअ लए। वेह तूं विछाए।
डु॒ख लाहींदा डी॒ल मां। गु॒झो गा॒लहाए।
कालह सनासी सिङियूं। विअड़ा वजा॒ए।
ईंदा आदेसी वरी। दूंहियूं धगा॒ए।
मूं खे नियंदा पाण सें। हीउ संङु साङाहे।
अदियूं अब्दुल्लतीफ़ चए।ऊ इहड़ो ई आहे॥

ROMAN SINDHI

aasiro aahay, motti eendaa, moo'n na chhaddeendaa paann'a pasandaa,
pathar'ay waar'a pireen'a la'ee, weh'u too'n wichhaae,
ddukhh'a laaheendaa ddeel'a maa'n, ggujho ggaalahaae,
kaalh'a sanaasee singiyoo'n, wi'arraa wajaae,
eendaa aadesi wari, doonhiyoo'n dhaggaae,
moo'n khhay neendaa paann'a see'n, hee'u sang'u saangaahay,
adiyoo'n Abdul'Lateef'u chae, oo iharro ee aahay.

  • I hope the ascetics would come back and not forsake me. They would do it in view of their own goodness. They shall come back and rekindle their fires. Meanwhile spread your hair on the quilt for the beloved. He shall have confidential conversation with me, and thereby relieve me of all my sufferings.
    He shall then take me with himself in view of my relationship with him.
    Abdul Latif says: “O sisters! My beloved (the Prophet) is as gracious as I visualize him”.
    Note: It seems the poet always banked on his relationship with the Prophet. This Vai in main relates to him.


    امید بندھی ہے، آئینگے، مجھے چھوڑ نہ جائینگے،
    اک دن آئینگے بیراگی، دھونی خوب رما کے،
    پل پل راہ تکوں جوگی کی، راہ میں بال بچھا کے،
    دکھ کرینگے دور وہ ساجن، راز کی بات سنا کے،
    لے جائینگے مجھ برہن کو، پریت کی ریت نبھاکے،
    کہے لطیف کہ ساجن میرا! مہر کرے گھر آ کے۔
