For those individuals who are united with the Beloved, sleep is not only permissible but also considered a virtuous act** They have indeed trained their eyes to find rest and experience sound sleep** Even during sleep, they remain in communion with Allah, as stated in a tradition** Their minds are genuinely freed from worldly concerns and sorrows**

سُمَھَنُ تَنَ ثَوَابُ جٖين ٿِئَا حَلُّ حَبِيْبَ س﮼﮶
نٖيْنَ هٖيْرَاءِ نِنڊَّ س﮼ خُشْ ڪِئَاءٌ خَوَابُ﮶
اُوْسِيْرُوْ عَذَابُ دِلِئَا تَنٍ دُوْرِ ٿِئُوْ﮶

TRANSLITERATION
सिन्धी देवनागिरी

सुमहणु तनि सवाबु। जे थिआ हलु हबीब सें।
नैण हेराए निन्ड सें। ख़ुशि किआऊं ख़वाबु।
ओसीड़ो अज़ाबु। दिलिआं तनी दूरि थिओ॥

Sumhann'u tan Sawab'u, je thiya Hal'u Habeeb'a seen,
Nainn'a heraye ninDH'a seen, Khush kiyaoon Khuawab'u,
Oseearro AZaab'u, dilyaan tanee door thiyo.

  • To those persons who are one with the Beloved, sleep is permissible, nay, it is a good act done by them. Actually they have trained their eyes to sleep and enjoyed good sleep, (but they keep conscious). In sleep too they are in communion with Allah, as per a tradition. Their minds are in fact relieved of all worldly worries and sorrows.
    On them shall come no fear, nor shall they grieve. (170, Al-lmran).
    Note: The tradition cited below the following verse is relevant.

    Those in union with the loved one,
    peacefully sleep,
    They close their eyes their sleep is deep,
    From all worries and troubles they are free.


    الذين اختلطوا وتوحدوا مع الحبيب يجوز لهم النوم.
    والنوم لهم ثواب عودوا عيونهم على النوم وناموا نوما حلوا.
    لقد زالت الكروب والهموم من قلبوبهم.


    بجانانِ ہر کہ یکجا شد، ثواب از خفتن آن یابد
    غنودہ چشم او بس خواب خوش اندر کنار آرد
    عتاب آید نہ بر حالش عذاب افتد نہ بر جانش
    بلی زندہ دل آن کس خویشتن را در قرار آرد


    ہوگئے حل جو حبیب میں، ان کی نیند ثواب،
    نیند کے ماتے نیناں دیکھیں، پل پل خوشی کے خواب،
    ہجر کا ہے جو عذاب، دور ہے ان کے دل سے۔
